About Sherwood Park
Sherwood Park was first established in 1955 on farmland belonging to the Smeltzer family, east of Edmonton. With a population of 70,618 in 2016, Sherwood Park has enough people to be deemed Alberta's seventh largest city, but technically retains the status of a hamlet.
There are more than 49 neighborhoods in Sherwood Park that are located closely to extensive walking and biking paths, outdoor hiking, a variety of community facilities including swimming pools, health centers and hockey rinks along with a wide range of schools.
There are more than 37 parks and sports fields located around the community as well as many state-of-the-art recreation facilities including Broadmoor Arena, Glen Allan Recreation Complex, Kinsmen Leisure Centre, Millennium Place and Sherwood Park Arena/Sports Centre. The community is also very sports-minded with well-respected hockey, soccer and baseball teams.

While Sherwood Park offers residents and visitors alike all the amenities one would expect from a city, including movie theaters, museums, major shopping outlets, excellent restaurants and plenty of indoor and outdoor recreation facilities, the area holds on to its rural roots and is well known throughout Alberta as a safe, family-friendly community.
